SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 12

Love, McKenzie, Minear, Oliverio, Plymale, Prezioso, Ross,
Schoonover, Scott, Sharpe, Snyder, Sprouse, Walker, White and
Wooton)
Expressing sadness at the passing of the Honorable Larry
Wiedebusch, member of the West Virginia Senate from the second
district, former member of the West Virginia House of
Delegates, statesman and dedicated West Virginian.
Whereas, The Honorable Larry Wiedebusch was born March 6,
1936, in Marshall County, West Virginia, the son of Robert and
Clara (Bunner) Wiedebusch; and
Whereas, The Honorable Larry Wiedebusch served his nation with
pride and distinction in the United States Army; and
Whereas, The Honorable Larry Wiedebusch was married to his
beloved wife Mary (Archer) Wiedebusch, with whom he shared the joy
of having three children, Terri L. Wiedebusch-Chambers, Jill A.
Wiedebusch-Burkhart and Robert S. Wiedebusch; and
Whereas, The legislative service of the Honorable Larry
Wiedebusch began with his election to the West Virginia House of
Delegates in 1974. During his fourteen years in the House of Delegates, the Honorable Larry Wiedebusch served as Chair of the
Committee on Industry and Labor during the 64th and 65th
Legislatures; Cchairman of the Committee on Government Organization
during the 66th Legislature; and as Assistant House Majority Leader
and Majority Whip of the House of Delegates during the 67th
Legislature; and
Whereas, In 1988,, the Honorable Larry Wiedebusch was elected to
the West Virginia Senate, where he served until his passing in
1997. During his nine-year tenure in the Senate, he served as
Chair of the Senate Committee on Government Organization and Vice Chair of
the powerful Committee on the Judiciary. He also served as Senate
Chair of the Joint Committee on Government Organization; and
Whereas, During his legislative service, his knowledge and
expertise of the legislative process aided the Honorable Larry
Wiedebusch in the passage of a myriad of legislative acts,
conceived and executed by him for the betterment of the citizens of
his district and all West Virginians; and
Whereas, Sadly, the life of the Honorable Larry Wiedebusch
ended on October 25, 1997, bringing to an end twenty-three years of
dedicated public service. His quick wit, camaraderie and knowledge of the legislative process will be sorely missed by his fellow
colleagues in the Senate and all who knew and worked with him
during his tenure in the West Virginia Legislature; therefore, be
it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Honorable Larry Wiedebusch, member of the West
Virginia Senate, former member of the West Virginia House of
Delegates and dedicated public servant, is hereby recognized for
his outstanding service to the citizens of the state of West
Virginia during his tenure in the West Virginia Legislature; and,
be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the family of the
Honorable Larry Wiedebusch., member of the West Virginia Senate from
the second senatorial district, former member of the West Virginia
House of Delegates, statesman and dedicated West Virginian.
